Manufacturing Intern (Contract, on-site) – Livermore, CA

Position Overview:

As a manufacturing intern, you will play a crucial role in the production and quality control of reagents and other consumables shipped to our customers. Working closely with our manufacturing and operations team, you will ensure the timely and accurate preparation of cartridges, reagents and consumables while adhering to strict quality standards and regulatory requirements. Your expertise in laboratory techniques, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills will contribute to the success of our scientific endeavors. This role will report to Operations.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assist with the production and quality control of reagent and consumable kits shipped to customers, including nuclei isolation reagents, cell isolation reagents, cartridge assemblies, and bottle cap assemblies.
  2. Develop and optimize protocols for the preparation, sterilization, and validation of consumables to ensure consistency, reliability, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  3. Assist with inventory management, including procurement, storage, and distribution of consumables, ensuring adequate stock levels to support ongoing customer demand and research activities.
  4. Conduct routine quality control assessments of consumables, including purity, sterility, and performance, utilizing appropriate analytical techniques and assays.
  5. Troubleshoot issues related to consumable production, quality control, and inventory management, implementing corrective actions as needed.
  6. Maintain accurate documentation of consumable production processes, quality control tests, and inventory transactions, ensuring traceability and compliance with regulatory requirements.
  7. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development projects, troubleshoot technical challenges, and contribute to the achievement of project goals and timelines.
  8. Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment to maintain operational efficiency and accuracy.
  9. Sterilize bottles and equipment needed for manufacturing.
  10. Assist with shipment of products and the logistics of order fulfillment.
  11. Assist with the creation and maintenance of documentation, such as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Qualifications:

  1. Current student or recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
  2. Proficiency in laboratory techniques such as pipetting, dilution, filtration, sterile technique, solution preparation, and aseptic handling of materials.
  3. Possess a working understanding of principles and techniques related to the production, preparation, purification, sterilization, characterization and quality control of biosciences consumables.
  4. Familiarity with analytical instruments and assays commonly used for assessing consumable quality, such as pH meters, spectrophotometers, microscopes and microbial testing methods.
  5. Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize workload effectively.
  6. Proven problem-solving abilities and the capacity to troubleshoot technical issues independently.
  7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and convey technical information clearly and concisely.
  8. Commitment to maintaining a safe laboratory environment and adhering to standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
  9. Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  10. Flexibility to work occasional weekends or evenings as project demands dictate.
  11. General computer skills (e.g., proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  12. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Nice to Haves:

  1. Familiarity with injection-molding.
  2. Experience working in a production setting for reagents and other consumables.
  3. Knowledge of quality control processes and regulatory requirements governing biosciences consumables production (e.g., ISO, GLP, GMP).

 

Below is the salary range for this contracted position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience.

Base Salary Range – $22-$25/per hour
