Senior Electro-Mechanical Tech – Livermore, CA

Position Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electro-Mechanical Technician to join our team. The Electro-Mechanical Technician will play a crucial role in the assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of our sophisticated scientific instruments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electro-mechanical systems, with a focus on precision engineering and meticulous attention to detail. This role will report to the Production Manager.

Responsibilities:

  1. Assemble electro-mechanical components and subsystems according to engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  2. Perform functional testing and validation of scientific instruments to ensure they meet performance requirements and quality standards.
  3. Troubleshoot complex electro-mechanical systems to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  4. Collaborate with engineers and other team members to optimize instrument design, performance, and reliability.
  5. Develop and maintain documentation, including assembly procedures, test protocols, and troubleshooting guides.
  6. Provide technical support to internal teams, customers, and service engineers as needed.
  7. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes, product quality, and efficiency.
  8. Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent technical education in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of experience in electro-mechanical assembly and testing, preferably in the scientific instruments industry.
  3. Prototyping experience in a production work environment.
  4. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and specifications.
  5. Skilled with wire and component selection, soldering, crimping, pinning, and terminal strip mounting and point-to-point wiring.
  6. Able to assemble cable harnesses, install wire routing terminations, shielding and grounding.
  7. Build and assemble electromechanical components and systems according to specifications.
  8. Strong knowledge of electro-mechanical systems, including motors, sensors, actuators, and control systems.
  9. Hands-on experience with precision tools, equipment, and instrumentation.
  10. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  11. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey complex technical information clearly and understandably.
  12. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  13. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  14. Proficient with Microsoft Office and experience with a variety of diagnostic tools.
  15. Proficient with the use of electronic test equipment.
  16. On-site – Livermore, CA
  17. Clean and valid driver’s license.
  18. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to perform activities such as stooping, climbing, typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time. The employee is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

Nice to Haves:

  1. Experience with ISO 9001 or similar quality management systems is a plus.

Compensation:

Below is the salary range for this full-time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience.

Base Salary Range – $83,000 – $125,000 USD
